Around 1980, the first PVC containers appeared in the global market, soon followed by PET. Zecchetti accepted the challenge that PET containers represented for the packaging industries and focused their know-how (developed in the transport and palletization sectors) on the handling of the new container market.

ZECCHETTI manufactured the 1st Italian palletizer for PET bottle handling.

The need to face new problems and the development of technologies capable of simplifying operators’ tasks to increase the equipment efficiency, and progressively - line speed, has allowed Zecchetti experience to compound and develop hand-in-hand with the increase of the plastic bottle use. This increase in Zecchetti's knowledge base, in strict cooperation with some of the major converters, allowed them to reach significant goals and, in the meantime, helped Zecchetti grow and become one of the lead companies in the sector.
